Working with geoboards.......

The kids were so excited to get the geoboards out today and get to "work." These are so cool, they help improve their fine-motor and discrimination skills, while also strengthening their fingers for writing. They also provide practice with the math concept of patterning and so on. I can't wait to see them learn to make more complex designs. Don't they remind you of those wall hangings in the 70's, with the nails and the string? My sister was into making those, I can still remember them hanging on our basement walls. While working, we had a conversation that "jumped around" a lot. Ezra said "The carnival is closed." Eliott said "Yeah, it is." We all then talked about the carnival and what they rode on, etc. Then a few minutes later Maggie said "I can't find my umbrella, my blue one with mermaids on it." She said it in such a sad little voice too. I love their little voices, they are just too sweet.
